Welcome! I’m Kathrina, a local historian based in Northamptonshire dedicated to bringing regional stories, heritage, and community history to life. Whether through tailored local history projects, talks, or research, my goal is to uncover the everyday experiences and voices that shaped our towns and villages

My Research & Expertise

​

I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Northampton, where my research explores Women's Philanthropy in the Boot and Shoe Industry during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. My academic background also includes a Master’s Degree in History from The Open University, where my dissertation focused on Northamptonshire Bus Services (1920–1950), examining how local transport connected communities and transformed daily life.

• Women's History: The social significance and impact of women's local philanthropic work.

• Transport & Leisure: How local bus routes, entertainment, and shared spaces shaped 20th-century life.

How I Work with the Community

Beyond my academic research, I work closely with local councils, schools, and community groups to make local history accessible, relevant, and engaging. From archive research and historical consultations to educational workshops and public presentations, I am passionate about helping people connect with the heritage right on their doorstep.
